pR Rider Spotlight – Stephen Douglas
Name: Stephen Douglas
Hometown: Webster Groves, Missouri
Current Home: Highlands Ranch, CO
Discipline: Road CAT 5, Cross CAT 4. MTB just for fun.
When did you join pedal? During cross season, 2015
How long have you been riding and racing? Riding for over 20 years. Cross season, 2015 was my first season racing cross. Spring 2016 was my first season racing crits and road races.
What is your absolute favorite road or trail to ride? The Copper Triangle route is my favorite road ride of all time. Beautiful and challenging. The Highlands Ranch Backcountry is my favorite place to MTB and work on CX skills.
What piece of bike equipment/gear can you not live without? My Stages power meter! Currently have it on two bikes…need it on a third. Don’t tell my wife.
Favorite thing to do when you’re NOT riding your bike? Playing with my kids.
Favorite motivational quote/saying? It’s either “if you are not 10 minutes early, you are 15 minutes late”, or “If you didn’t know how old you were, how old would you be?”
Best race experience or highlight? Placing 2nd at the Rio Grande road race. It was an exciting experience and totally hooked me forever. Huge kudos go to Morgan Brown for doing a lot of pulling on that one.
What are your goals for 2016? Try to find that good balance between riding/racing and time with the family/home projects/work. Get some more experience in the crit/road race scene this spring/summer, and enjoy the view from the back of the pack with the Cat 4’s in cross this fall. MAYBE a new cross bike?? Again…don’t tell my wife.
