When did you join pedal? 2014
How long have you been riding and racing? Serious recreational riding for 8 years, 3 years racing. I love that an old geezer like me can keep getting faster with the right training… though not so much this year J
What is your absolute favorite road or trail to ride? I couldn’t pick just one but overall I would say Ride the Rockies because you ride terrain that is not just gorgeous, but might be a bit dangerous without the event’s traffic control.
What piece of bike equipment/gear can you not live without? The Pedal shop overall because they may not be the biggest shop in town but I’m always surprised at how they have the best stuff at the right time at a fair price and have an awesome, knowledgeable staff. I owe so much to them! Also my Cannondale Evo Super Six… I just think acceleration and it happens.
Favorite thing to do when you’re NOT riding your bike? Hanging with the family and watching other people ride their bike… i.e. international road races, especially the classics and grand tours. Note that those are best consumed while riding a trainer.
Favorite motivational quote/saying? Shut up legs! (Thank you, Jens Voight)
Best race experience or highlight? My stint as Pedal President last year and winning the 2015 Rocky Mountain Road Cup.
What are your goals for 2016? Get through a Cat 3 race without getting dropped. I’ve never been dropped in a race (which really isn’t something to brag about… shows an unhealthy aversion to risk) but so far none of the others upgraded to 3 in my category last year have managed it, and I’m too under-trained and overweight to give it a fair shot… hoping for later this year.
