Physio Racing Team Updates – December 2020

From the President

– Dave Hogue

Hey Team!

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm as we roll into the off-season. Our first ever team training program kicked off this week—if you didn’t get the memo, hop on over to the #training channel and jump in! Remember to take care of yourself this holiday season. I know I tend to feel the burnout real hard this time of year, every year. Despite that, I’m hopeful for a 2021, that is a bit racier 😜 than 2020! Happy Holidays from Physio Racing.

New Member Highlights

Kelsey Torres

Kelsey, born and raised in Pittsburgh, moved to Colorado one year ago. She is a physical therapist that works with geriatric populations in senior living communities. She started biking as a way to train for running events and to spend time with family. This has evolved into a great way to meet an amazing new community of friends here in Colorado, to push her physical limits, and to be able to eat all of the cookies.

Ben Pickel

I got into cycling in the early 2000s while I was a competitive runner as a way to mix things up, cross train, and have just have fun. I’ve spent my entire professional career working in either the running or bike industry and cycling has always been a part of my life with varying degrees of seriousness. Mostly less serious. These days I simply enjoy the sense of adventure MTB and Gravel riding offers. I’m most happy on a bike when there is an element of unknown in the route and you aren’t quite sure what will come around the next bend. Fun fact about me: I have a Minor in Women and Gender Studies.

Training

Huge thank you to Physio Racing sponsor Waite Endurance! Cody and Kathy Waite designed a base builder training plan for our team, which started last week. (More information in Slack #training.)

This 16-week program consists of structured cycling training and “at-home” strength training to build your 2021 base fitness. The program is built around a 7-10 hour training week but can be easily adjusted up or down to fit your needs. There are two interval-based cycling workouts and two endurance-based cycling workouts that can be performed indoors or out, along with twice-weekly minimal-equipment-needed strength training progression, all designed to get you fit by Spring….just in time for our Team Training Camp in early April! This program is accessible to all PR Team members as part of their membership. You will need a Training Peaks account (free & premium options available) and to download the free Train Heroic app to follow the program. The WE coaches, Cody & Kathy, will be available for training questions within our PR Slack workspace and within the Train Heroic app.

Woohoo!!!!
